Here we have listed some of the areas where the keywords need to be placed to fully optimize a web page for the search engines. If you follow our posts on SEO, this will dramatically improve your chances of ranking high.
- Title tag. This is the single most important place to place your keywords.
- Meta desription tag. Several disputes on this, but we still think it is important to have your keywords included within the description.
- Meta keywords tag. The purpose of this tag is to have the keywords and it is there for a reason.
- H1 tag. This is a very important place in the body of the page to have your keyword in. It should be as high up on the page as possible.
- First 100 words on the page. Your target keyword should appear atleast once in the first 100 words on the website as seen by the search engines.
- In the alt value of image tags. Include your target keywords in the alt values for image tags.
- In the footer section as a link leading back to the destination page for that keyword.
- Does your web page have any flash? Avoid flash as search engines can not read flash.
- How many times is your keyword included in the page? It is good to have it appearing a few times but at the same time, do not over do it.
- How many times your keyword appears in bold or strong? Have your keyword appear in bold or strong at least a few times. again, do not over do it. A fine balance is very important.
- Finally and importantly, if possible, have your keyword included in the URL for the page. This could be half the battle won.

Very useful! It is an art to include as many key words as possible on a page, without over-saturating it with repetitive word use!
